Host Rocket Web Hosting Review

Host Rocket offers shared and dedicated hosting services with an excellent control panel, stellar customer support, and great features (such as unlimited bandwidth for shared hosting accounts). While we encountered minor problems with their signup process and would prefer more favorable month-to-month pricing, we found their services to be very good overall. Signup Process - Host Rocket Web Hosting

Signing up for service from a web host is supposed to be easy, and for the most part, it was with Host Rocket... except for an odd request made by the company when filling in one's billing information. Oddly enough, Host Rocket believes that providing your full contact information along with your credit card number, expiration date, and CVV code isn't enough security. They also request the issuing bank's name and contact information.

If we were just purchasing an account for personal use, instead of evaluation, we would have left Host Rocket at this point and opted for any one of the many other competent web hosts that exist. Needlessly troubling a potential client for insignificant information is not a good way to start a relationship.

As a positive, the signup process is otherwise streamlined, requiring fewer steps and screens than competitors.

Quality of Services - Host Rocket Web Hosting

Our Host Rocket account performed up to expectations in terms of both speed and reliability. Additionally, we were very pleased with the the ease of use of the control panel, which allowed us to manage nearly all aspects of our account with only a few clicks.

Additionally, the control panel allows modification of billing details, a tremendously valuable feature which minimizes needless calls to support for users.

Host Rocket far exceeded our expectations in bandwidth allocation. Their site notes "unlimited bandwidth," which should more accurately read "unmetered bandwidth" as it is still possible (although practically improbable) to exceed their ability to deliver bandwidth. Semantics aside, this is an outstanding feature which means users don't have to worry about overage charges should their site receive significant traffic.

Host Rocket is an excellent choice from a level-of-service standpoint.

Billing Evaluation - Host Rocket Web Hosting

After purchasing an account, we found Host Rocket's billing to be accurate, matching the price shown when we completed our order.

Unfortunately, Host Rocket's advertised low price of $4.95 per month is only available with a 24-month commitment. By opting for shorter terms, the price more than doubles to $9.95 for 12 months, all the way up to $12.95 for month-to-month terms.

We would have preferred more friendly pricing for shorter terms, but overall the pricing policy is still acceptable.

Host Rocket improved their status by offering exceptional support. Every time we contacted technical support, we found limited wait times and were greeted by pleasant, knowledgeable support representatives.

Our questions were always answered promptly and correctly. The support experience with Host Rocket was truly exceptional.
